Social Media and the Rise of the LGBTQ+ Community
Technology is everywhere. From the phone you use to check Snapchat to the computer you are more than likely viewing this essay on, technology has become engrained into the everyday life of man. But life wasn’t always like this as it. It was only a few decades ago when the world wide web was in its infancy. Something that was also in starting to take shape decades ago was the LGBTQ+ community; the growth has been getting larger and larger since the beginning of the 2010s and doesn’t seem to slow down. The tenuous connection between the two subjects becomes stronger when looking at athe particular type of technology that is online media. Online media is a phenomenon, that took off in the early 2000s, that has also hit new heights. This begs the question of “how does media affect the LGBTQ+ community?” This is a very important relationship as it could explain what makes media such an attraction to the queer community.
