This paper presents methodological guidelines for the location of an offshore wind farm, which are based on a study of knowledge of wind energy potential, maritime conditions, and fluid-structure interaction. It was taken as a case study to evaluate these guidelines in the area from the Western Tajamar of Bocas de Ceniza to the Municipality of Puerto Colombia. To Theassess the energy potential should be performed, a maritime climate analysis should be performed, from which the amount of energy that the study area can supply is estimated. A maritime climate study was carried out to establish the hydrodynamic conditions to which the structure will be subjected, which were the input for the evaluation of fluid-structure interaction that allowed to determinedetermination of the stability of a monopile-type offshore structure. The results of this maritime climate analysis indicated that the maximum wind energy potential is in the vicinity of the mouth of the Magdalena River, the. The maritime conditions that were established from the Delft3D tool disclosed the wavefronts that reach the study area and variations in current by depth. Finally, with the results obtained under the conditions mentioned above, a fluid-structure interaction analysis was developed using ABAQUS CAE, wherefrom which stability was determined by varying geometric parameters, material characteristics and requests (loads).
