In the Odyssey, the lotus flower is here presented as dangerous, addictive, and poisonpoisonous to the mind. Once you’ve eaten a lotus flower, you become addicted to it, and would lose your mind and your will to do anything else. Odysseus had to physically drag three members of his crew back to the ships and tie them down. Warning, and warn everyone to not eat the plant.
