At the age of sixteen, my mother told me the story aforementioned story, along with numerous other stories of her adolescence. At the time of hearing the stories, I was in disbelief, because of the drastic change of my mother’s character. It was difficult to imagine the things she had experience as an adolescenceadolescent. I, myself, had thoughts of running away, as I’m sure many teenagers do. I resonated with this particular story, because of my mother being thea victim of peer pressure.
My mother throughout Throughout the journey with her peers is in rejection ofmy mother rejected the actions that had taken place; however, she did not want to be seen as a coward. I think an important takeaway from the story is to stand alongside your own morals, despite itits being perceived as cowardly. In my own life, I've tooalso experienced the influence of peer pressure. In doing so, I've turned my back on my own beliefs to impress others, which in turn, can lead to disastrous circumstances. Although weakness can be described as an unfavorable characteristic, it’s occasionally necessary to protect yourself and others.
