How can habitable planets beyond our solar system suited for the human race be detected? This paper will display and cover the methods used to search for planets beyond our solar system that orbit around other stars. This methodology will also be tested in a laboratory experiment in order to prove/disprove the effectiveness of the transit photometry method. The transit method will be utilized in order to experimentally detect exoplanets of different sizes, atmospheres, and velocities thru the detection of light intensity. This practical experiment will, also, cover aspects a planet must transcend in order to be considered habitable. Factors such as temperature, nutrients, atmosphere, and water availability will all be taken into consideration. The most essential factor being the “habitable zone” which is the perfect distance between the star and the planet that enables living organisms to exist and evolve. The conclusion of this paper will provide factual information that displays a method of searching for exoplanets, the. The results of this method will differ depending on factors of size, velocity and the size of an atmosphere.
