This graduation thesis is based on the investigation “Metacognitive strategies characterization to solve scientific problems with children between seven to twelve years old, belonging to the indigenous community Ceima Cahivera Mitú (Vaupés - Colombia)”. This work wants to support the education in the Vaupés province. This work wants to understand. What dowhat the children think when they are asked to solve a scientific problem?problem. What is the best way to develop scientific thinking? How childrencan children can learn science? What type of resources do children use to solve a problem?
The methodological approach was qualitative with an exploratory – descriptive method. This is the first time that this type of studies arestudy is completed in this indigenous community. The data was collected using 79 videos and audios, and the data was analyzed using a matrix during the exploratory, experimental, and evaluative phases.
Finally, the results of this study show the characterization of metacognitive strategies from the tasks proposed, the investigation of metacognitive thought. whichthe purpose of which is centred in the collection of information with the goal of characterizing metacognitive strategies as;: planning, supervision, control, and evaluation, using Uve de Gowin tools.
