howHow text language can be affecting the englishEnglish language, and our literacy skills.
We all do it, tbh, gtg, btw, the list goes on, everyday, every second we humans use these quick little phrases, abbreviations and misspell words on purpose, all because of one thing……..we’re lazy, or is it.
Let's start with why, first. First off and there's no denying it, its super easy. The word “because” can be shortened to “coz”, we can easily cut down phrases like “as soon as possible” which has 16 letters, but is easily recognized if we use just “asap” which has 4 letters. So there's no question it's easier and faster.
Which leads me to my next question, is it a good thing or a bad thing? Well note to self kiddos, almost anything that has a benefit in life also has a down side. For example, a car gets us places quicker, but uses fuel and pollutes the air, if. If you build a house that's good, but you probably cut down a few trees right, u see my point, in. In this case, we use less effort which makes it quicker and easier.
, butBut, we also forget to spell words correctly, use too many abbreviations and we are to unformaltoo informal with the structure of our sentences, in which we end up writing something that make no sense at all.
So now we are pretty even, its clear there are benefits and downfalls of our “text grammar”, but to really find out how much it has an effect on our language/grammar skills whether it is positive or negative, I had to find out more, so iI hopped on the world wide web, did some digging and researched this rising issue to find out more.
