Edgar Allan Poe has written multiple suspenseful and scary stories. Poe writes his stories about murder or suspense. Poe uses a lot ofmany forms of figurative language.
In PoesPoe's story “the“The pit and the pendulum”, he creates suspense by using parallel structure. An example of that would be when he says “in“In deepest slumber-no! In delirium-no! In a swoon-no!” (pg. 130 2nd par). Poe also uses imagery intensely in this story, “i. “I fancied that iI saw the pendulum in motion above me” is an example. Imagery helps us see what the man in the story was seeing and feel what he was feeling.
