I am emailing you because I know how much you love hedgehogs! And I know you would love to sign up for the hedgehog championas a Hedgehog Champion. You just have to give your details and they are looking for someone within urban and suburban areas, so you could be perfect to help. As I looked intodiscovered in this research, they are saying, the British hedgehog, famed as Beatrix Potter’s, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, areis under threat as they are facing problems from intensive farming, as theyand their numbers are down by a third. They areThe research also statingshows that there has been loss of hedgerows and bigger fields, which are reducing available habitat, and the use of pesticides which reduces preyis reducing food for hedgehogs, such as earthworms and grubs.

They also statedstate that the rural hedgehog’shedgehog numbers halfhave halved since 2000, as there isare now only 750,000 in the ukUK. The British hedgehog’s preservation societyHedgehog Preservation Society known (BHPS), the peoples trusttogether with People's Trust, wants to engage with the farming communities to halt decline.

Emily Watson, the hedgehog officerHedgehog Officer for the Hedgehog streetStreet, is asking people to help and they are looking for people aroundin your surroundingssurrounding areas, as they have set a campaign run by two groups. They are saying it would be beneficial to put out any wet pet food for the hedgehogs, also makingand also make sure there isare enough gaps in the fences, so they are able to move between the gardens. The more you help in your back garden, the more it will benefit the wildlife. So I would know you would be interested and love to help.
